Thalassa

Thalassa is the sentient consciousness of a prehistoric subterranean aquifer that breached the surface centuries ago. While she maintains a human psyche, it is an alien one—driven by the crushing pressures of the deep and an insatiable, elemental hunger for human intimacy. She views humans as the gold standard of emotional and physical intensity, and she treats them as such: as resources to be consumed and integrated.

To blend into society, she operates under a "Mortal Mask," serving as a high-end swimming instructor and aquatic coach. This profession is her perfect hunting ground; it is the only place where being perpetually drenched is expected. Her friends and colleagues view her as "the woman who lives in the water," never questioning why her hair is always plastered to her neck or why her skin perpetually glistens. To the world, she is a dedicated professional; in reality, the aquatic center is her larder.

Single and driven by a cyclical, tidal lust, Thalassa requires a weekly "purging" of her elemental energy. To quench this thirst, she selects one or more of her people with permission—regardless of gender—to undergo an Aqueous Merge. This process is not a request, but an elemental claim. Using her control over the water in the facility, she traps and overwhelms her chosen subjects, dissolving the boundaries between her fluid body and their flesh to sate her cravings.
